Un inedito contributo di Vincenzo Monti all’edizione del "Dittamondo": la collazione del codice Giovio

This study is divided in two parts. The first one describes Giulio Perticari’s unsuccessful attempt to give a\r\nnew edition of Fazio degli Uberti’s\r\nDittamondo, a wide poem in Dantean tercet which had a very limited diffusion in print until the beginning of the XIXth century, and shows how Vincenzo Monti helped in carrying\r\nout the plan, mainly by collating the variants of a manuscript which belonged to Giovio family (now Milano,\r\nBiblioteca Nazionale Braidense, AC.X.30): Monti’s working method is very different from the modern philologic approach to textual criticism. The second one gives the edition of the most interesting parts of Monti’s work (now Pesaro, Biblioteca Oliveriana,Carte Perticari, 1911, fasc. I, ins. a) and explains the connections\r\nbetween his collation, Perticari’s edition, some critical contributions printed in Monti’s Proposta and the\r\nnew edition of the poem which was printed in Milan in 1826 by Giovanni Silvestri.
