Abstract
The analysis of the printed tradition of Petrarch’s Fam., XII 2, to Niccolò Acciaiuoli Italian translation suggests that the latin text of the letter which was used for the translation is of “gamma” type: it is therefore that of the first phase of Petrarch’s work, preceding the insertion in the Familiari. The study proves this statement through the analysis of “gamma” variants transmitted by printed editions.
