Abstract
The essay deals about the sometimes close relations between entrepreneurs and enterprises and vocational education at the end of 19th - first half of 20th century in Italy. Within the historical process of professionalization of vocational learning and teaching, their engagement grew from an external but actual support of public schools to a more direct commitment of large firms in creating corporate and internal courses and schools for workers and employees. After a focus on italian legislation about technical and vocational education, in search of some acknowledgment of enterprise’s role in the field, the research highlights the numerous experiences of corporate schools in Lombardy until the WWII.
