Volgarizzare Petrarca con Dante: una "translatio" umanistica in terzine del "Testamentum"

Lidio Catti from Ravenna was a poet and a jurist who lived between the 15th and the 16th century. One of his experimental works is an Italian translation in terza rima of Petrarch’s testament, come down to us in a later manuscript now in the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana (Venice): an erudite collection compiled by the 17th century and containing works linked to Padua. This article provides a study on the formation of this poem, also seeking the tradition of the will Lidio Catti could have referred to, thanks to the observation of textual clues. This analysis is followed by a commented edition, where the verses are compared to the Latin version and the poet’s literary models (expecially Dante and Petrarch, but also, for instance, the contemporary Boiardo). So, the contribution will examine a peculiar moment of Petrarch’s testament fortune, of translation and the experimental features of certain humanistic production.
