[Autom. eng. transl.] Although they have never been translated into our language, Nick Couldry's contributions are well known to the Italian scientific community that studies media and communication from a sociological perspective. This book is not only his most recent work in order of publication, but it is also the most brilliant, impressive and questionable among those that have studded his scientific career. His translation is first of all an opportunity to deepen his knowledge of the most comprehensive and radical criticisms of the cultural hegemony of neo-liberalism that have been published in recent years. With the same academic prudence with which Williams had given disciplinary consistency to cultural studies in the sixties, Couldry weaves its dense interpretative plot starting from a heterogeneous background of theoretical and empirical resources that draw on sociology and economics, philosophy and politic science.
