Abstract

[Machine translation] The paper offers the first edition of the so-called «Regole della grammatica provenzale» by Benedetto Varchi, held in the manuscript Florence, Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana, Ashburnham 1812. Varchi was not really among the most illustrious 16th-century italian scolars of Old Occitan. However his translation of «Donat proensal» and of a part of «Razos de trobar», summary and only rarely exceeding the level of notes, clearly reveals his desire to practice the Occitan in a way sufficient at least to allow him reading the Troubadours' poems with an increasing awareness
