Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Among the many questions on which the first exegesis of
Dante leaned, there is that relating to the origin, the nature and the arrangement of the infernal waters of the rivers, lakes and swamps crossed by Dante and Virgil. The article studies the commentary on these places developed by Giovanni Boccaccio and analyzes the system of sources, in order to show how the author used materials that he himself developed earlier in his Latin works. The study offers some textual support with the Comentum of Benvenuto da Imola, where Boccaccio's source is clearly shown.
